The GreenChallenge
Old news: this conference is damaging our planet. Some participants and contributors flew to Sweden. The electricity for this conference might come from a non-renewable source. Even as you walk around Ytterjärna, the soles of your shoe might leave unwanted chemicals on the ground.
Everything we do has an impact, but that doesn't mean that we should find ourselves paralyzed out of fear to do something wrong. It also doesn't mean that we should ignore the unwanted consequences of this event: acknowledging them is the first step to minimizing them. And we hope to do that with your help.

Here's the challenge we've set out for you: find your way to the 360º Conference (or back) in any low-impact way you can think of. You can hike, bike, rail or sail; or why not hitch-hike? It can be a lot of fun and is safer than most people think. If you can't avoid taking a train or a car, let us know what you've done to compensate your carbon-footprint. Be it through an initiative before, during or after the conference, through awareness-building or actual carbon reduction, we want to know how you're making your trip to Järna an adventure in itself. All of the efforts will be displayed during the conference, and the best responses to our GreenChallenge will be rewarded. The things we look out for are creativeness, effort, originality and actual impact reduction.

Every idea is one worth working out. If you need our help, we're there to support you. No matter how crazy you think we might find your idea. We challenge you to challenge yourself.
Here are some ideas that are already considered by participants:
- Sailing from Denmark to Sweden
- Hitch-hiking from Switzerland to Sweden
- Combining the conference with an interrail trip
- Organizing an event after the conference to collect money for an NGO or a project

And what do we do? Without going into detail, we too are working on net impact reduction and awareness. Not because we're jumping on a hype, but because throughout the year, we've come to a true understanding of the situation we're in. You'll have to wait until the start of the conference to see how that manifests.
In the meanwhile, here's something to chew on: we feel that if we put all the effort that we'd put in making this conference a net carbon-neutral happening in something else -namely creating a conference that fosters beauty, inspiration, and true connection between people- our effort is much more worth the while. It's a matter of prioritizing. If you think that this is something you disagree with, we invite to you contact us or to use one of the many open spaces at the conference to voice your ideas or concerns.
