Imagine a conference that turns into a festival in the evening! 360º Exploring Community boasts an outdoor stage, featuring some amazing bands from around Scandinavia and the rest of Europe. After ten o' clock, the party continues indoors with more live music, improvisation jams and DJ’s. Remember that we also encourage participants to bring their own instruments!

Check out some of the bands that you'll see on stage:

Kaspar (Finland)

photo: Mikko Aaltonen Kaspar is a indie folk band from Finland, named after the mysterious person Kaspar Hauser. Their debut album will be released coming August. It was recorded in New York and was produced by Malcolm Burn, who worked with Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris amongst others. Kaspar is formed by singer-songwriters John McGregor and Mikael Hakkarainen. Together, they create an intimate and fragile sound, which you will be able to experience in the Big Hall of the Culture House.

Guy Collins & the Global Vagabonds (South-Africa)

Born on the southern tip of Africa, Guy has been playing guitar for almost 25 years. His interest really took off when he was 15 on a warm day. The long distance sounds from somewhere in the American south of Howlin' Wolf on Highway 49 beamed into the living room. Subsequently, Guy has become interested in all roots and folk musics and the connection to the soul experiences to which music connects every human being. While rock and blues music has played a big part in his musical education, he has developed an interest in all improvised music, especially the aspect of making music with people who do not consider themselves musicians. Are we all able to tap into the music behind the world?

At 360º Guy will be playing with some of the musicians that comprise his roving, ever changing accomplices, the Global Vagabonds. Expect the unexpected. World boogie music. Guy showcases his demo material here. He is in preparation to record in Finland during July 2009 directly after 360º following a long hiatus in his musical exploration which previously entailed performing and recording with South African bands Billygoat, Valiant Swart, Starkravingsane and Hot Water among others.

Silas Beardslee

Silas Beardslee is the last born in a family of five and grew up in New England.  He has a black dog and a blue bicycle.  He has been a participant in the first ever YIP course in Sweden where he took up the guitar and writing songs as a main activity in his life.  His music, one could say, is a snazzy mix of folk, reggae and some other inspirations with his own added flare sprinkled on top of it all. Among his favorite artists you could find Iron and Wine, State Radio, Toots and the Maytals, Bob Dylan and of course, the legendary Bob Marley.  Through his music he strives to find a way to blend these sounds and different genre’s into unique, relaxing songs with a personal message.
